Бернард любил технику и понимал ценность космоса. Не удивлюсь если половина из списка в статье работает на их патентах и лицензиях.
Филипс интересная контора, до фига реально интересных патентов и разработок было и есть.
Ради чего? На пару месяцев по необходимости запускать удобный спутник целеуказания и управления, или серию спутников.
Заруба с Тайванем? за неделю повесили спутников и не надо беспилотники гонять. Дешево и сердито.

а сколько у него дивизий? - пока есть закон "оно" работает, но когда всё пойдёт в разнос - будет право сильного...
Есть такая британская телекоммуникационная компания - "OneWeb" и она придумала свою систему мобильной спутниковой связи + инет + что-то для военных, всего около 600 аппаратов на разных орбитах. Спутники для этой системы с Байконура занедорого выводил Роскосмос, по 30 с лишним аппаратов за раз и попутно "OneWeb" искал альтернативы Роскосмосу, в том числе поглядывая на некую компанию Virgin Galactic и её британское представительство Virgin Group, куда и входит упомянутая в статье Virgin Orbit.
В марте 2022-го "OneWeb", в связи с украинскими событиями, прекратил сотрудничество с Роскосмосом и решил сотрудничать со SpaceX (прямым конкурентом) и NewSpace India Limited (а индусы в космосе вообще как дома), так как у Virgin Orbit готовой системы всё еще нет. Запусков с новыми операторами пока ещё не было, но видимо в Европе созрело понимание, что нужна своя система поддержки орбитальной группировки спутников, включая пусковые услуги, и у Virgin Group дела пошли в гору ))
Британия крайне заинтересована в этом проекте и примерно в 2020-м, когда "OneWeb" собиралась банкротится, британское правительство даже насыпало им денег. Но одной Британии такое дело не вытянуть, нужны инвестиции от других европейских компаний, и (возможно) в связи с этим на "Virgin Orbit", зарегистрированную в США, как на ещё одного игрока на рынке пусковых услуг, начали обращать внимание и другие страны Европы и в чём-то даже подтянуть одеяло на себя, так как Британия уже не в ЕС. И мне кажется, что Люксембург движется именно в этом направлении.
Да, "Virgin Orbit" - игрок пока что так себе, да ещё и с британским паспортом, но выбор у Европы невелик, особенно если надо запустить на орбиту всего 1 спутник килограмм 100-150 весом, а "Европейское космическое агентство" за такую услугу хочет охренелиард евро авансом и без гарантий.
