Премьер-министр Индии Манмохан Сингх, который провел первые за семь лет переговоры на высшем уровне с президентом Пакистана Асифом Али Зардари, заявил о стремлении стран нормализовать отношения, сообщает Reuters.
Лидеры двух стран заявили, что они обсудили широкий круг вопросов, во время «плодотворной» встречи еще до совместного обеда. Сингх сказал, что надеется совершить свой первый визит в Пакистан в удобное для властей страны время.
«Нам бы хотелось улучшить отношения с Индией. На встрече мы обсудили самые разные вопросы и надеемся на скорую встречу в Пакистане», – заявил Зардари.
«Отношения между Индией и Пакистаном должны нормализоваться. Это наше общее желание. У нас есть ряд вопросов, и мы готовы искать их соместное решение», – сказал Сингх.
Это был первый визит в Индию главы пакистанского государства с 2005 года. Отношения между странами резко осложнились после серии терактов в индийском городе Мумбаи в 2008 году. Тогда индийское руководство обвинило в причастности к организации этих терактов власти Пакистана.
